EVELYN EVANS

Evelyn J. (Vaughn) Evans, 81 of La Grange, Missouri died August 23, 2016 in the Lewis County Nursing Home at Canton. The daughter of Homer E. and Myrtle M. (Taylor) Vaughn was born on July 17, 1935 at West Point, Iowa. Evelyn was a member of the La Grange Christian Church serving on the church board. She was also a member and Past President of the Canton-La Grange VFW Post 4083 Ladies Auxiliary and a Past President, Vice President and trustee of the Palmyra VFW Post 11041 Ladies Auxiliary. She served four years at a District President of the VFW and was a member of the PTA. She is survived by two children, Angela G. Burton of Philadelphia, Mo. and Scott Evans and friend Kathy Cottrell of Monticello, Mo.; three grandchildren, Misti N. Burton of Hannibal, Mo., Mark A. (Candie) Burton II of Philadelphia, Mo. and Nathan R. Burton of Detroit, Il.; nine great-grandchildren, Alexis T. Burton, Tyler G. Burton, Cameron M. Burton, Kegan M. McIntosh, Haleigh M. Burton, Conner L. Burton, Blake A. Burton, Abigail R. Ledbetter and Aiden S. Ledbetter; a sister, Mrs. Alice Davidson of Quincy, Il; a brother, Alvin (Mary) Vaughn of La Grange, Mo.; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister-in-law, Perry and Connie Vaughn and a brother-in-law, Russell Davidson. Memorial funeral services were held August 28, 2016 at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri with Rev. Kary Myers, Rev. Dewayne Larenson and Rev.Marshall Cronklin officiating. Visitation was held August 26 at the La Grange Christian Church in La Grange, Missouri. AVFW Auxiliary service was also held. Honorary Pallbearers: Mark Burton, Nathan Burton, Cameron Burton, Conner Burton, Blake Burton, Kegan McIntosh, Brad Davidson, Evan Davidson and Gentry Davidson. Inurnment was in the Durham Cemetery at Durham, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the La Grange Christian Church or Wounded Warriors Project.
