MARY FRANCES MURPHY

Mary F. Murphy, 80, of Jacksonville, Ill., died August 14, 2016, at her residence.

She was born August 23, 1935 in LaBelle, Mo., the daughter of John and Ethel Van Arsdale Kramer. She married Edward H. Murphy on January 1, 1955 in LaGrange, Mo., and he survives.


Mary was employed by First Presbyterian Day Care Center for over nine years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as the volunteer church treasurer for over 30 years. She was formerly active in the Berea Home Extension and enjoyed quilting in her spare time.
She was a 1955 graduate of LaGrange High School.


She is also survived by three sons, Steve Murphy (wife, Lu Anne) of Jacksonville, Wayne Murphy (wife, Rachel) of Horseshoe Beach, FL, and Neal Murphy (wife, Michelle) of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, Becky Holmes (husband, Eric) of Winchester and Daniel Murphy (wife, Patty), all of Winchester, and Emily Barber (husband, Darrin), Lisa Mortimer (husband, Donny), and Corey Murphy, all of Jacksonville; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dale L. Murphy; a sister, Betty Leeser; and a brother in infancy.


Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m, Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends at the church from 2:30 p.m. until the time of services.

Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, south of Jacksonville. Memorial gifts are suggested to First Presbyterian Church or Memorial Home Services-Hospice.
