Kathleen R. Wagy, 93, of Quincy and formerly of LaBelle, Mo., died August 7, 2016, in Sunset Home. Kathleen was born November 3, 1922 in LaBelle, Missouri, the daughter of Scott and Alice West Raypholtz. She married William Eugene Wagy on November 14, 1948 in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1991. Kathleen spent a couple of years teaching elementary school in Durham, Mo.,, but the majority of her career was spent working as a secretary in Washington School in Quincy. Kathleen was an avid genealogy buff, and she enjoyed traveling to do her research. She also traveled while attending Elderhostel Educational Tours. Kathleen continued learning new things her entire life, including learning to drive at the age of 70. In her spare time, she enjoyed needlepoint, and she was quite an accomplished seamstress. Survivors include: two nephews: Larry (Mary) McConnell of Lewistown, Mo; and Harry (Dixie) Wagy of Quincy; a great niece, Tara (Dennis) Stutheit of Maywood, Mo; great-great nieces and great-great nephews: James and Lauren Stutheit; and Tyler and Allison McConnell; and a brother-in-law, Maurice (Mary) Wagy of Quincy. In addition to her husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Frances McConnell. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at LaBelle Cemetery, with Rev. Elsie McNeil officiating.
