GEORGE MURPHY

George H. Murphy, 75 of LaBelle, Mo., died June 19, 2016, in Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown, Mo. George was born at Fairmont, Mo., on March 8, 1941, the son of George Ray and Sara Berniece Decker Murphy. He was united in marriage to Janice Kay Sparrow on May 1, 1964. George attended Fairmont School and was formerly employed at MFA in LaBelle, MO and was also a self-employed farmer raising cattle, crops and pigs. He was a member of the LaBelle Saddle Club for years. George loved spending time with his grandchildren hunting, fishing, taking 4 wheeler and tractor rides with them and teaching them life lessons. He had a major impact on their lives and the memories created will always be cherished. Surviving are his wife Janice Kay Murphy, LaBelle, two sons, George William (Bill) and Sharon Murphy, Monroe City, Mo., Randall Joe (Randy) and Marjorie Murphy, Durham, Mo, one adopted daughter, Tamara Jean and Rob Collins, Eolia, Mo, one brother Patrick Murphy, Wyaconda, Mo, one sister Barbara Fitzsimmons, Centerville, Iowa, six grandchildren, Dustin and Sara Murphy, Ewing, Mo, and Tyler and Micayla Murphy, Durham, Mo, George (Joshua) Murphy, Springfield, Mo, Hana Murphy, Monroe City, Jeffrey Roland, Eoila, Mo, two step-grandchildren, Ryan Mabry, Moberly, Mo, and Lacey Smith, Monroe City;, one great grandchild Kayleigh Murphy, Ewing, Mo, and three honorary grandchildren, Amanda and Debra McCarty, Brashear, Mo, and Matthew McCarty, Kansas City, MO. Other survivors include Bryan Fitzsimmons, Texas, Renee Byrd, Centerville, Iowa, Stacy and Justin Zaputil , Centerville, Iowa, and several great nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Ruth Murphy, in-laws, Charles and Opal Sparrow, brother-in-laws, Larry Fitzsimmons, Jack, Wayne (Pork), Ronald and Fred Sparrow, Albert Wilke and sister-in-law Ella (Tillie) Wilke. Funeral services were held June 22, 2016, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Pastor Paul Harvey officiated. Casket bearers: Dustin, Tyler, Hana and Micayla Murphy, Ryan Mabry and Matthew McCarty. Honorary bearers: Bryan Fitzsimmons, Sara Murphy, Amanda and Debra McCarty and Josh Murphy Burial was in the LaBelle Cemetery.
