THELMA DARLENE SOLTER CLARK

Thelma Darlene Solter, 83, of Canton, Mo., died April 17, 2016 in the Lewis County Nursing Home at Canton, Mo.

She was born September 5, 1932 in Sioux County, Iowa to Chalmer William and Viola Matilda Caroline Lahr Solter. She married Wayne Clark on April 21, 1956 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in LaGrange, Missouri. She and Wayne lived their entire marriage on the family farm northwest of Canton and were active members of Centenary United Methodist Church. Wayne preceded her in passing on May 15, 2003.

Thelma was born and raised in rural Hudson, South Dakota. After the untimely passing of her mother, she moved with her father and brothers to LaGrange in 1947. She graduated high school there in 1950. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at the LaGrange Foundry. Thelma later worked as a cook at Culver-Stockton College from 1977 to 2004.

Thelma and Wayne are survived by their children: Kirby (Dianna) Clark, Steve (Betsy) Clark, and Doug Clark of Canton; Mary (Bob) Ladd of East Windsor, New Jersey; and Barb Rees of Monroe City, Mo. Their beloved grandchildren are: Anthony (Jennifer) Clark, Katie Clark, Christine Ladd, Maria Clark, Tyler Clark, Carey Ladd, Kimberly Clark, Douglas Clark, Robert Ladd, Will Clark, Allison Clark, Elaina Clark and Annabelle Clark; their step-grandchildren: Jamie Herren, Krista (Daniel) Scott, Dustin and Robert Morris, Skylar King(fiancée Heather Eva), Trish, Ryan and Jamie Rees ; great grandchildren Coen Pierce, Kinley Clark, Lincoln Scott, and Lily York. And numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Donald Solter, Marion Solter, Arnold Solter, Martha and her husband, Roy Kreun and nephew, Larry Kreun.

Funeral services were held April 22, 2016 at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Elsie McNeil officiating.Music: Brandii Turner, Vocalist. Pallbearers: Anthony Clark, Katie Clark, Christine Ladd, Maria Clark, Tyler Clark, Carey Ladd, Kimberly Clark, Douglas Clark and Robert Ladd

Visitation was held April 21, 2016 at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton.

Burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton.

Thelma thoroughly enjoyed growing flowers and sharing bouquets. As much as she adored flowers, she loved her church even more and would prefer that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Centenary United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer‘s Association.
