Norris Dean Day, 82 of Liberty, Illinois died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

He was born December 23, 1933 in Lewistown, Missouri the son of Fred and Doris Young Day.

Mr. Day graduated from Lewistown High School in 1950. He lived most of his life in the Lewis and Adams County area. He worked at Gardner-Denver Foundry in LaGrange, Missouri for 42 years and was a member of the Local Union 143. After his retirement, he did not stop working; he was active with his farming before and after “punching the clock” and as usual was determined to do a good job with his farming and any other projects he had. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. In 2000 he met and married his wife Joyce Bryan Day and had many happy years together.

He is survived by his wife Joyce; three children, Dean Douglas, Melanie Rose and Tracy Matt; three step-daughters, Kristen, Jennifer and Suzanne; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Aldewin, Kenny and J.R. Day.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Lewistown, Missouri with Rev. Elsie McNeil officiating. Pallbearers: Randy Orr, Kim Fleer, Jason Adams, David Ruthman, Ryan Murphy and Danny Dannenhauer.

Visitation will be held Wednesday morning, April 27 after 10 a.m. until the time of services at Arnold’s Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Lewistown Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Lewistown Cemetery Association.
