LOWELL ENGLISH
Lowell English, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024 – one day before his 94th birthday – at the home he built on English Road in Rockwall, Texas. Lowell was born on May 7, 1930, in Williamstown, Missouri, where he grew up helping on the family farm, attended school, and met his loving wife, Ann.
Lowell is survived by his brother, Thomas Ray English; children: Tina Davis and husband Jay, Doug English and wife Claire, Don English and wife Beverly, David English and wife Kathy; grandchildren: Christopher Roach and wife Katie, Candice Matison, Brandon Davis and wife Tanya, Rachel English, Blake English, Jordan English, Grant English, Wade English, Emma Cantú and husband Joel, Audrey English, Adam Fuller, Bryce Fuller; great-grandchildren: Megan Matison, Madelyn Roach, Molly Roach, Caroline Roach, Ben Davis, Olivia Davis, and Mary Claire Walter; along with a host of friends and loved ones who will miss him dearly.
Lowell is preceded in death by his loving wife Ann Constantz English; parents Oval and Eula English; brother Bernard English and sister-in-law, Jean English. On a wing and a prayer, Lowell and his wife, Ann, moved from Canton, Missouri to Dallas, Texas to build their life and raise four children. With his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for serving others, Lowell operated a well-known service station in Highland Park for many years before starting a new business in his 60’s as a successful home builder and land developer. Lowell was a natural entrepreneur.
For many years, Lowell and Ann spent Saturdays and Sunday afternoons touring the countryside looking for the ideal place to build their home. They wanted the type of home to raise a family and have a place for horses. In 1983, he purchased a 550-acre tract and developed Bluebonnet Ridge with 66 large, ranch-style lots and a greenbelt trail system than ran throughout the development for riding horses. With streets named after his grandchildren, the family spent holidays there, raised children, rode horses and made memories that will last for generations to come. One of his favorite yearly events was the family Christmas Eve service where he would always write and recite a poem celebrating the birth of Jesus and letting everyone know how proud he was of his family. Lowell, in almost every way, was larger than life and embodied overachievement. He will always be known for dedication to his family and hard work. He touched the lives of so many people and will be remembered for his wisdom, integrity, and unwavering faith.
He was a charter member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church and a 32nd degree Mason, raised at the Hillcrest Lodge No. 1318. Lowell’s legacy will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched along the way. While he will be deeply missed, we are comforted in knowing he is now in heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and his beloved wife, Ann.
A service to celebrate his life was held Wednesday, May 15th, 2024 beginning at 9 am for visitation and service at 10 am at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lone Star Paralysis Foundation, Shiloh Terrace or Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Lowell’s memory. Funeral services were under the direction of Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall, Tx.
