HARLIE AUBREY SPRATT

Harlie Aubrey Spratt, 92, of Ewing, Mo., died March 26, 2016 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

He was born May 3, 1923 in Nelsonville, Mo., a son of Harlie Caryl and Anna Belle Hurt Spratt. He married Doris Anderson June 14, 1942, then on March 9, 1962 he married Lovena Olson and following her death he married his special angel Frances Ludwig on December 21, 1991.

Harlie worked at the Rock Island Arsenal and later worked for Gardner Denver in Quincy for 32 years. After retiring he drove a School Bus for the C-1 School District and was a volunteer firefighter for the R-4 Fire Protection District for many years. He served as Lewis County Commissioner for several years and President of Ewing Sr. Housing Board until he retired in 2015. Harlie was involved in prison ministry in Illinois and Missouri from 1989 till his death.

He was known for his wood working and especially his Jesus fish which he made and gave away over 7000.

He belonged to the Ewing Assembly of God Church where he served as song leader, Sunday school teacher, church bus driver and church treasurer for over 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Frances of Ewing; children, Karen Sue Sharpe of Nashville, Tenn., Harlena (Mickey) Finn of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Tommy (Ray) Padavic of Quincy, Ill., Pam (Herb) Dalton of Kansas City, Mo., Vanessa (Danny) Kayser of Mendon, Ill., Debbie (Terry ) Faulconer of Maywood, Mo., Kim (Rick) Walter of Leawood, KS, Brent (Kathy) Ludwig of Hampton, Ill., brother, Hubert Spratt of Riverdale, Iowa; 32 grandchildren, numerous great and great grandchildren and two special friends, Lovina Raleigh and David Hathaway and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lovena, daughter Sandra Howerton, son Jack Olson and grandson Eric Olson.

Funeral services were held March 30, 2016 at 11a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Ewing with Rev. Elmer Hagood and Rev. Charles Sharpe officiating. Visitation was held March 29, 2016 at the First Assembly of God Church in Ewing. Music: Congregational Hymns: “My Wonderful Lord” and “Love Lifted Me” with guitarist, Marvin Mersery; “It is Well with my Soul” sung by Harlie’s daughters.

Pallbearers were Dennis Mayer, Phil Pennington, Johnnie Sparks, Marvin Mersery, Tom Schroeder, E.H. Smith and Kevin Allison. Honorary Pallbearers were: David Hathaway, Donnie Walker, Claude Olson, Glen Olson, Rev. Ted Middleton, Rev. Gary Whitaker.

Burial was in Durham Cemetery, Durham Mo.

Arrangements by the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Agape House or the REC Program in care of Ball-Davis Funeral Home, Ewing, Mo.
