BUDDY ROSS PRIEBE

Buddy Ross Priebe, 85 of Canton, Mo., died March 10, 2016 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

He was born Dec. 19, 1930 in Canton a son of Benjamin Fredrick and Titia Oral McClain Priebe. He married Velma Jean Brown on May 4, 1958. She died Sept. 5, 1985. He married Naomi Frances McCullough on Dec. 5, 1986. She died April 7, 2002.

Buddy graduated from Canton High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 1, 1951 until Sept. 30, 1953 with 18 months of that time as a Medic in Korea. He belonged to the Odd Fellows Lodge in Canton until the Lodge disbanded and was a member of Otto Bruner Post 170 of the American Legion of Canton. He worked for Martin Chevrolet in Canton from 1948 until 1965 and also for Canton Auto Supply a year and a half. He then worked for Hadler International Truck in Quincy from 1971 until his retirement in 1992. Buddy was a member of Life Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Canton.

Survivors include two step daughters, Donna Hathaway of Quincy and Rebecca Webster of Canton, four step granddaughters, Deborah Altgilbers of New York, Amanda Nelson of Quincy, Kara Webster of Canton and Aimee Danforth and her husband Derek of Lewistown, Mo; four step grandsons, Paul O’Neal of Zillah, WA, Reggie Hathaway and his wife Denyse of Columbia, Mo., Alex Altgilbers and his wife of South Carolina and Mathew Herren and his wife Kathleen of Hannibal; three nephews, Steve Priebe and wife Ann, Mike Priebe and wife Paula and Wayne E. Priebe Jr. all of Canton, one niece Patricia La Count and her husband Ron of La Grange and several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, brother and sister in law Wayne and Ernestine Priebe Sr., one stepdaughter, Carol Jean O’Neal, one step son, Larry Altgilbers and one step grandson Patrick O’Neal.

Funeral services were held March 14, 2016 at Life Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Canton with Rev. Paul Kinney officiating.Music: Jennifer Ericson and Michelle Ehrenreich. Paul Kinney, Pianist

Pallbearers: Reggie Hathaway, Linn Schmitz, Darryl Herren, Paul Schmitz, Jeff McIntosh and Mark Bowen. Honorary Pallbearers: Steve Priebe, Mike Priebe, Gene Priebe, Alan Lippincott, Rick Lippincott, James McIntosh, Mathew Herren, Alex Altgilbers and Paul O’Neal. Visitation was held March 13, 2016 at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton.

Burial with military honors will be in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
