DORIS LITCHFIELD

Doris Lorene Litchfield, 83, of LaBelle, Mo., died May 1, 2015, in Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Mo.

She was born on March 16, 1932, in Newark, Mo., the daughter of Edward Arthur and Gleeta Hall Rogers.

She was united in marriage to James Thomas Litchfield on January 9, 1949, in Kirksville, Mo.

Doris was known for providing many delicious family dinners. Many enjoyed gift boxes of Christmas Candy from the Litchfields. She embroidered quilts for gifts for family members. She was a member of the Amacitia Study Club and hosted a yearly Christmas luncheon, including many kinds of homemade candy. She and her husband had a great love of sports. She was a fan while her daughters were involved in basketball and cheerleading at LaBelle High School and at Highland High School. She followed her grandsons in football, basketball and baseball while on traveling teams and school teams in Kirksville and continued attending basketball games for her nephews and nieces at Marion County High School.

She and her husband were constant companions in farming and especially enjoyed working with cattle.

They resided on family farms in Knox and Lewis Counties during their married life of 64 years. They have two daughters, Judy Litchfield of Quincy, Ill., and Donna Sparks of Kirksville, Mo. They have two grandsons, Andrew Sparks and wife Stephanie of Augusta, GA and Aaron Sparks of Kansas City, Mo.

Also surviving is a sister, Lottie Glover and husband Alan of Newark, Mo., nieces and nephews, Linda Sharpe of St. Charles, Mo., Rick Sharpe and wife Becky of Shelbyville, Mo., Mike Sharpe and wife Abbie of Quincy, IL, Matt Glover and wife Dana of Lewistown, Mo., Ginnie Scoggin and husband Jamison of Newark, Mo., and Ben Glover of Newark, Mo. She also loved the many great-nieces and great nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband on July 26, 2013, her parents Edward Arthur Rogers and Gleeta Hall Rogers Williams, her step-father Earl Williams, and her sister-in-law Mary Sharpe.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Mo. Reverend Charles Sharpe will officiate the services. Music will be provided by Wendeline Brumbaugh. Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Mo.

Burial will be in the LaBelle Cemetery.
