DOROTHY NELSON MAY

Dorothy Joan Nelson-May died at her residence in Ewing, Mo., on April 25,2022.

She was born in Ewing, Mo., on April 6, 1939 to Roy W. and Marie Kollmeyer Goings. She was a 1957 graduate of Ewing High School.

She was united in marriage on July 7, 1957 to Robert C. Nelson at Mt. Olivet Church where she remained a member until her death. Robert passed away in July of 2000.
Over the years, she was employed at Highland High School cafeteria, as a Home Health Aide for Sunset and Heartland Resources, but she mostly enjoyed being a housewife, mother and grandmother. As a mother, she was an active 4-H leader, PTA, Junior church director and a Sunday and Bible School teacher. She enjoyed square dancing and belonged to the Silver Dollars Club. She also enjoyed her winters in Mission, Texas.

On May 29, 2004, she married Robert E. May Sr. at Ewing Baptist Church and he survives.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Patricia Hatfield (Darrell Ecton), Peggy (David) Menear, and Jennifer (John) Rottmann; one stepdaughter Judy (Bert) Kreps, two stepsons, Robert E. May Jr. (Kristi) May and Russell (Wendy) May; seven grandchildren, Courtney (Shawn) Inlow, Paul Dacon, Gera Hatfield, Jeryn Batman, Austin Batman, Sean Rottmann and Tyler (Alex) Rottmann; five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one nephew, Tommy Watkins; 11 step grandchildren Sarah (Tiffany Vogler) May, Andrea Leone, Tracey (Marcus) Lewis, Ashlyn (Dakota) Neisen, Jacob May, Pamela May, Joshua May, Becky May, Michael (Abby) Chillion, Gregory (Bailey) Chillion, and Steven Chillion and eight great step grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister Marilyn (Thomas) Watkins, one stepson Jeffery May, one stepdaughter DeAnna (Thomas) Chillion and one granddaughter Brenda May.

Funeral services were held April 30, 2022 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Ewing, Mo., with Rev. Jessie Rogers officiating.

Visitation was held prior to services. Pallbearers: Austin Batman, Jeryn Batman, Sean Rottmann, Tyler Rottmann, Wyatt Nelson, Cullen Harrison and Darrion Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers: Michael Chillion, Gregory Chillion and Steven Chillion. Music provided by Sarah Adam, Pianist.
Burial was in Ewing Memorial Cemetery in Ewing, Mo.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
