ODE DOWNS

Mr. Ode E. Downs, 71, of the Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown, Mo,, formerly of Canton, Mo., died with his loved ones by his side on January 22, 2016 in the home.

He was born January 20, 1945 in Canton, a son of Eldon and Alma Jean Winkler Downs. He married Sue Shannon in 1962 and later married Lois Pratt in 1974.

Ode worked at Calcium Carbonate and was an industrial worker and handyman, he also worked for many years with Bob and Dora Mae Rice at Rices Market in Canton. He loved singing and had many friends. Family was very important to Ode.

Survivors include two sons, Troy (Twila) Downs of Canton and Eldon (Shelly) Downs of Tipton, Iowa; one daughter, Tonyia (Brian) Polman of West Liberty, Iowa; two sisters, Judy Ferguson of Quincy, Ill., and Sandra Vail of Michigan; grandson, Travis Downs of Lebanon, Mo.; granddaughters, Heather Brown of Chula Vista, Calif., Sumer Myers of Quincy, Ill., Melissa Downs of Canton, Mirielle Polman of West Liberty, Iowa, Ashlynn, Kailey and McKinley Downs of Tipton, Iowa; and fifteen great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Johnny Downs and first wife Sue Downs.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton with Pastor Gary Whittaker officiating. Music: Recorded selections. Pallbearers:Troy Downs, Eldon Downs, Chad Downs, Travis Downs, Mike Priebe and Rick Pearl

Private burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton.

The family suggests memorials be made to Troy or Eldon Downs in lieu of flowers to help defray funeral expenses.
