LENE SHANNON

Mrs. Ilene Shannon, age 93, of Canton, Mo., died January 11, 2016 at the Lewis County Nursing Home at Canton.

Ilene was born February 18, 1922 in Warsaw, Ill., a daughter of John and Elma Hunsaker Herren. She married Richard Carter of Palmyra on June 18, 1949, Jack Shannon of Canton on October 5, 1979.

Survivors include her son, Stanley Carter of Gardena, Calif.; two sisters, Martha Flesner of Golden, Ill., and Edna (Donald) Solter of Canton, Mo.; and one brother, Jack Herren.

Ilene was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph, Henry, Ray, Albert, and Robert Herren as well as her sisters, Sophia Weerts, Ruth Flesner, Ruby Flesner, Evelyn Brown and Mary Warning.

Graveside services and burial were held January 14, 2016 at Forest Grove Cemetery at Canton with Pastor Harry Cooper officiating. service.
