KATHLEEN UHLMEYER

Kathleen Marie Uhlmeyer, 86, of Canton, Mo., died June 17, 2021 at the Lewis County Nursing Home. She was born March 26, 1935, the daughter of Nick and Marie (Ellison) Kirchner of St Patrick Mo., where Kathleen spent all her childhood with her parents and three brothers. She married Bernard H Uhlmeyer on May 30, 1953, at the St Patrick Catholic Church in St Patrick, Mo. He passed away October 31, 2006.

Kathleen attended and graduated from St Patrick School. After her marriage, Kathleen and husband Bun started their family and put down rural roots with the purchase of their first farm in 1955. Mrs. Uhlmeyer was a life-long member of the Shrine of St Patrick Catholic Church where she served on the Liturgy Committee and as a member of the church council. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella and St Vincent DePaul Society. Kathleen enjoyed working for several years in food service at the Lewis County Nursing Home and Culver-Stockton College and was a volunteer at the Lewis County Nursing Home.

Her greatest loves and joys in life were her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kathleen enjoyed baking, sewing, growing flowers and a large garden, fishing with Bun, and family outings. She and Bun enjoyed traveling around the country to visit family and take vacations.

Survivors include sons, Richard (Rick) Uhlmeyer (Tina), Canton; Les Uhlmeyer (Cheryl), Ames Ia.; Steve Uhlmeyer, Largo Fla.; Stan Uhlmeyer (Kim), Canton; Jeff Uhlmeyer (Darcie), Montrose Ia.; daughters, Pam Kuckelman (Brian), Valley View Tex.; Beth Ferguson, Aledo Tex.; and son-in-law Jules DeCoster (Kathy), Canton.

Also surviving are 22 grandchildren Jesse Uhlmeyer (Lindsay), Canton; Melissa Feldkamp (Darin), Canton; Nathan Uhlmeyer, St Louis Mo.; Ryan Uhlmeyer (Katelyn), Canton; Crystal Kulle (Dan), Argyle Tex.; Tyler Kuckelman, Denton Tex.; Michelle King (Wes), Pilot Point Tex.; Kyle Uhlmeyer (Erin), Omaha Neb.; Erinn Uhlmeyer, Tigard Ore; Joel Uhlmeyer, Omaha Neb.; Evan Uhlmeyer, Ames Ia.; Miles DeCoster, Phoenix Ariz.; Nick DeCoster, San Francisco Calif.; Katrina DeCoster, Canton; Rockne DeCoster, Grinnell Ia.; Casey Uhlmeyer, St Peterburg Fla.; Anna Uhlmeyer, Hawk Point Mo.; Lance Uhlmeyer, Kara Uhlmeyer and Rachel Uhlmeyer, Canton; Brandon Ferguson, Aledo Tex.; and Case Uhlmeyer, Montrose Ia.
She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, with two more expected. Also surviving are in-laws Janet Kirchner, West Plains Mo.; Maxine Uhlmeyer, Canton; Sam and Mary Jean Wheeler, Williamstown Mo.; Bob and Mary Uhlmeyer, Canton; Martha Lesnick, Osage Beach Mo., and other relatives.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers (John Nick, Jim, and Bill), a daughter (Kathy DeCoster) and an infant grandson (Daniel Uhlmeyer).

Visitation will be held at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton on Thursday, June 24 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm with family present. Father James Wheeler will lead a prayer service at 7:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian burial to celebrate her life will be held Friday, June 25 at 10:00 am at the Shrine of St Patrick. The Rev Robert Fields will officiate services. Music will be by organist Julie Kirchner and vocalist Katrina DeCoster. Pallbearers are Jesse Uhlmeyer, Casey Uhlmeyer, Joel Uhlmeyer, Nick DeCoster, Lance Uhlmeyer, and Brandon Ferguson, with Honorary Pallbearer Case Uhlmeyer

Burial will be in St Patrick Cemetery alongside her husband.

The family suggests memorials be made to St Patrick Cemetery for Perpetual Care.
