Dale L. Murphy, 57, of Jacksonville,Ill., died Dec. 28, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born Nov. 1, 1958, in Decatur, the son of Edward and Mary (Kramer) Murphy.

Mr. Murphy was a Supervisor at Mobil Chemical for many years. He had been a member of the Jacksonville Moose Lodge. He was a big time Cardinals fan, and enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking. Dale loved being around his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a very hard-headed man, but was always quick with a joke.

He is survived by his parents of Jacksonville; two daughters, Emily (Darrin) Barber and Lisa (Donny) Mortimer, both of Jacksonville four grandchildren, Brooklynn Brogdon, Colton Brogdon, Cameran Rogan and Nathan Mortimer; and three brothers, Steve (Luanne) Murphy of Jacksonville, Wayne (Rachel) Murphy of Florida, and Neal (Michelle) Murphy of Jacksonville, FL. Numerous cousins survive including Nancy Ellison, Canton, Mo.; Beverly Platt, New London, Iowa and Patsy Garrett, Montgomery City, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Harry and Lula (Solter) Murphy and John and Ethel (Vanarsdal) Kramer and great aunt Betty (Kramer) Leeser.

The family will host a memorial service at 2:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends following the service.
