Billy Ray Conger, Sr., 85 of Lewistown, Missouri died December 29, 2015 at the LaBelle Manor Care Center in LaBelle, Missouri.

The son of Harvey and Mary (Anderson) Conger was born March 8, 1930 in Chariton County, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Mildred L. Smith on January 8, 1968 at Edina, Missouri. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2013.

Bill built pole barns for Kamar for many years. He also drove a semi-truck for Sharkie Transportation and other companies along with raising and showing pigeons in his later years, winning many awards. He served on the Lewistown City Council and was involved in many community projects over the years. Bill was a member and deacon of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in LaBelle and a member of Gideon’s International.

He is survived by two sons, Ronnie Conger and wife Mary of Whiteside, Mo. and Billy Conger, Jr. and wife Debbie of Kahoka, Mo.; step-son, Marvin Goodwin and wife Mary of Lewistown, Mo.; step-daughter, Kathy Henschen and husband David of Mt. Olive, Il.; fourteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gene Conger of Bel-Air, Maryland and Wendell Conger and wife Sue of Pittsfield, Il.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Betty Schlieper and Karen Long, step-daughter, Evelyn Goodwin and step-son, Kenny Goodwin.

Funeral services were held December 31, 2015 at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Lewistown, Missouri with Pastor James Salter officiating.
nterment will be in the Lewistown Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church or Lewistown Cemetery.
