EDGAR R. (WHISTLE) DAVIS

Mr. Edgar R. Davis (Pop), 91, of Lewistown, Mo., died December 27, 2015 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Mo.

He was born May 4, 1924 in Silioam Springs, Ill., a son of Finas and Ceacle Britt Davis.

Whistle enjoyed field trials, coon hunting and swim races with the dogs. He also enjoyed going to the dog and gun auction at Rutledge and spending time with with his family.

Survivors include his companion of 45 years, Etta Helfrich (Granny) of Ewing, Mo.; children, Mary Jo Austin, Lewistown, Mo., Diana (Annie) (Mark Miller) Helfrich, Palmyra, Mo.; grandchildren, Glen Brumbaugh of Hannibal, Rayetta (Daniel) Sharpe, Ewing, Dawn (Aaron) Darnell, Jacksonville, Ill., Paul Hatfield, Kirksville, Mo., and James W. (Janet) Hatfield, Hurdland, Mo., John C. (Carol) Mayfield, Monroe City, Mo., Phillip Mayfield, Quincy, Ill.; great grandchildren, Dustin Goodwin, La Grange, Mo, Chelsea Cramer, Ewing, Dillon Cramer, La Grange, Josh Crandall, LaBelle, Mo., Cheyenne Jacobson, Keokuk, Iowa, Dalton Jacobson, Jacksonville, Ill., Ryan Sharpe and Ava Sharpe, Ewing, P.J. Hatfield, Kirksville, Izaiah Hatfield, Hurdland, Arianna Hatfield, Kirksville and Tabitha Brumbaugh, Hannibal, Mo; numerous great great grandchildren; siblings, Mildred (Millie) Winchell, Burlington, Iowa, Mabel Magner, Media, Ill., Everrette Davis of Arizona, Carol (Vera) Eastman of Georgia also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Anna Mae Woods, Wayne Davis, Finas (Red) Davis, Rosemary Davis, Donald (Donnie) Davis, Darlene Heisler, Reta Swank, Kenneth Davis, Edie Davis, one daughter, Sherry Lynn Mayfield, granddaughter, Gail Crandall, great grandson Dallas Goodwin.

Graveside services and burial will be held Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 3 p.m. at the Lewistown Cemetery in Lewistown, Mo., with Rev. Dewayne Larenson officiating. There will be no visitation, but friends are invited to the committal service.

Honorary Pallbearer: James Hatfield, Paul Hatfield, Dennis Waters, Wes Allensworth.

The family suggests memorials be made to Heartland Resources in Ewing.
