MARGARET WINFREY YATES

Margaret Lavon Winfrey died Nov. 4, 2019 in Kaufman, Texas. She was born Oct. 22, 1927 a daughter of Russell Trotter and Viola Bell Thrasher Winfrey. She married Donald Wilbur Snook had they had three children, Tonja Rae, Russell Dowe and Acena Dawn. She later married Leo Cullen Yates, whose two children from a previous marriage, Docia-Robyn Ann and Fawnda Lavon, joined their growing family. She had 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are relatives in Lewis County, Mo.

Margaret loved her “bling” especially her rings, the more the merrier. She was happiest when wearing high heels. Her favorite colors were red and purple, both bright. She collected everything butterflies.

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was a long-time member of the Ada, Okla., Ward serving in several capacities in the Church. Margaret particularly enjoyed working the Family History Center to research genealogy for her family and doing Indexing and German census extractions.

She was a past Matron in the Masonic fraternal organizations the Order of Eastern Star in California and Oklahoma and a Past Worthy High Priestess in the Order of the White Shine of Jerusalem in California.

Services were held at the Centrahoma Cemetery, Centrahoma, Coal County, Oklahoma, Nov.23.2019.
