Gregory Arnell Smiley Clay

Gregory Arnell Smiley Clay, 58, of Moberly, Mo., formerly of Quincy and

La Grange died November 20, 2019 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO.

He was born December 16, 1960 in Quincy, IL a son of Henry Fonza and Norma Clay.

He loved the lord and talking about the Lord and was an ordained minister. He held bible studies in his home and ministered in various churches in the area. He had worked at Titan Wheel and at Stephens College in Columbia and various other work places. He enjoyed hunting, cutting wood, he was very social. He was very creative with his hands and in the arts enjoyed drawing.

He is survived by his children Paris and Alexis Clay of St. Louis, MO, a son of Quincy, IL; five sisters, Greta Lewis of La Grange, Tyla Renfro of Canton, Althea (Keith) Stroud of Clayton, IL, Gail Russell McMullen of Liberty, IL, Victoria Fonza Crowe of Kansas City, MO; three brothers, Thomas Holliway of Fountain Hill AZ, Tony (Connie) Tasco and Todd (Melisa) Tasco both of La Grange; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and cousins, two aunts Gertrude Mallory of Quincy and Darlene Sprague of Hopkinsville, KY, one uncle Ronnie Clay of Milwaukee, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Manuel Fonza, wife Cheryl Clay, grandparents including his grandma Pearl and step father Hartley Tasco and a sister Dawn Tasco.

Graveside services and burial will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Memorial Cemetery in La Grange with Rev. John Mims officiating. There will not be any visitation.

Memorials may be made to Greta Lewis in care of Davis Funeral Home to help defray expenses.
