Harry Eugene Hall

Harry Eugene Hall of Moberly, Missouri, 13 days shy of 92 years, joined the eternal patrol on October 30, 2019 at Boone Hospital, Columbia Missouri surrounded by his family.

He was born November 11, 1927 in Boonville, Missouri to Harry and Pauline Williams Hall. He graduated from Laura Speed Elliott high school and Kirksville Teachers College in 1950 with a BS in Education and in 1951 with a Masters in Administration. He also acquired a Superintendents Certificate. All his service was in Missouri as an administrator. He loved to be in charge. He retired in 1986 after 35 years as an educator. Harry honorably served his country in the US Navy as a submariner from July 1945-January 1948 as a seaman first class. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Twin Dolphins and WWII Victory Medal during his service. He was assigned to the USS Queenfish and counted it as one of the best experiences of his life. He was a patriot to the very end and proud to have served his country. Harry was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Moberly and knew his eternal destination was heaven.

Harry married Mary Melton on 3/28/48 in Boonville, MO. They had 4 sons; Mark, Mike, Dale and David. After Mary?s death he married Judy Lillard Steinbeck, also a widow, on 2/14/63. She brought 2 children to the marriage, Susan and Tim Steinbeck. In 1957 Harry took up flying as a new interest. After his retirement he established the Queenfish Newsletter which has reunited crew members since that time. He was active in Huntsville Rotary International and enjoyed long term relationships with international students they hosted. A committed Randolph county Republican, Harry ran for the Missouri House of Representatives and supported state and national conservative causes. He served on the Election Board and the Missouri State Parole Board for decades. Harry?s sense of humor, (he was the original purveyor of the bad dad joke), storytelling (raise your hand if you?ve heard this one) and unparalleled memory of the past are legendary. He loved everything with a motor from sewing machines (he reupholstered his own airplane) to boats, cars, motorcycles, motor homes and everything in between. He could fix almost anything and he was known affectionately as Mr. Fix It Man at home.?

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Paul; his first wife, Mary and sons, Mark and Dale.

Harry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy of the home; children, Mike, David, Susan and Tim and their respective spouses; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.?

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, 514 W. Rollins St., Moberly Missouri on November 2, 2019 from 10-12. The Memorial service will follow at noon.
