MARY SUE DUDGEON
Mary “Sue” Dudgeon, 91, of Lewistown, Mo., died September 30, 2019 at Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown.
A daughter of Roy and Mary Sue Wallace Hamlin, she was born June 7, 1928 in Hannibal, MO. She was a graduate of Lewistown High School and attended William Woods College in Fulton, MO for one year. She married Eugene Dudgeon on April 26, 1947 in the parsonage of the First Baptist Church in Kirksville, Mo. Gene died October 11, 2011.
Sue was a charter member of the American Legion Post 578 Women’s Auxiliary, and a member of Park United Methodist Church. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Farmers Exchange in Lewistown, was a secretary at Lewistown High School, worked at the ASC Office in Monticello, and at Lewistown State Bank in Lewistown.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Steinbeck of Palmyra and Shirley (Keith) Hetzler of Lewistown; five grandchildren, MSgt Jeffrey (Rachelle) Steinbeck, USAF (Ret) of Ramstein, Germany, Joelle (Darin) Goodwin, Palmyra; Brandon (Tona) Hetzler, Springfield, Mo.; Ryan (Larraleigh) Hetzler, Lewistown; Cole (Jessica) Hetzler, Houghton, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren, Randle Steinbeck, Cambridge, MA; Gabriel Goodwin, Palmyra; Jakob Steinbeck, Pullman, WA; Adam Goodwin, Palmyra; Kalen Hetzler, Springfield, MO; Easton, Laikyn and Quade Hetzler, Houghton, IA; sister, Ann Hierman, Lancaster, NY; sister-in-law, Joan Hamlin, O’Fallon and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Wallace Hamlin and Reynolds Hamlin, sister, Betty Wood, sister-in-law, Omega Hamlin, brother-in-law, Kenneth Wood and nephew, Kent Wood.
Services were held Oct. 4, 2019 at Park United Methodist Church, Lewistown. Pallbearers: Joelle Goodwin, Brandon Hetzler, Ryan Hetzler, Cole Hetzler, Keith Hetzler and Britt Hamlin. Burial was in Grandview Burial Park, Hannibal.
