JOHN E. HICKMAN SR.

John Edward Hickman Sr. 77, died September 10, 2019 at his home in Bay Point California. He was 77 years old.

He was born on October 12, 1941, a son of James E. Hickman and Emma E. Diggs Hickman.

He was a 1959 graduate of LaGrange High School, in LaGrange Mo. and went on to serve in the US Army and Vietnam War where he was recognized as a sharp shooter of Rifle and Carbine.

A loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, known to all that knew and loved him as "JOHNNY" was an avid bowler, golfer, and baseball player; however he was a lover of all sports. He was a lover of life who met no strangers; he was a free spirit who never judged anyone. He will mostly be remembered for his laugh; both his laugh and smile were infectious to everyone who encountered him.

Surviving are three children: Dawn E. McDougal, of Columbus OH, Deanna E. Hickman, of Peoria IL, and John E. Hickman Jr. (Raquel) of Columbus OH; seven grandchildren: Latoya Hickman, Brandon Hickman, TreVaughn Lucas, Rakeisha Murray (Ryan), Jazzmine Feliz (Samy), Quintin Hickman, Dean Hickman. Twelve great-grandchildren; brothers: James E. Hickman (Dolly), Johnny Hickman (Chris) both of Quincy IL; six sisters: Margaret Hickman-Lewis, Alberta Hickman, Marcia (Kay) Harvey, Marva (Lynn) Hickman, Jackie Osborne (Michael), Debbie Hickman; Aunt, Rosemary Lewis, of LaGrange Mo; and nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son Dean Edward Hickman; his parents; a sister; a brother and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. September 21, 2019 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with visitation 10 to 11a.m. Rev. Orville B. Jones officiating.
