BRUCE SOLTER

Mr. Bruce Solter, 87, of La Grange, Mo., died October 27, 2015 in the Lewis County Nursing Home at Canton, Mo.

He was born February 22, 1928 in La Grange a son of Edward H. and Pearl L. Robinson Solter. He married Irene I. Thalmann on November 2, 1947 in Keokuk, Iowa. She died February 11, 2005.

Bruce was a career carpenter beginning with Chester Drawe Construction building many homes in the LaGrange area. He was also in general construction, King Acoustical Ceilings and finishing with Heidbreder Peters Co. and was a member of Local Carpenters Union 189. He also raised hogs for 48 years with his son and enjoyed cutting trees and cutting wood. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School and enjoyed square dancing with the Gem Dandies of Quincy. Bruce was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Palmyra, Mo.

Survivors include a son, Larry (Joyce) Solter of La Grange; daughter, Janice Smith of Viroqua, WI; sister Pearl Washburn of Keokuk, Iowa; six grandchildren, Sgt. Bruce Roy (Sandra) Solter of El Paso (Fort Bliss) Texas, Carrie Lou Romero of La Grange, Velvet Irene (Kevin) Hasner of Columbia, Mo., Scarlett Rose Solter and (Ron Leckbee) of Edina, Mo., Sharalee (Chad) Jaenke of Peachtree City, Ga.. and Kimberlee (Dennis) Alton of De Forest, Wisc.; great grandchildren, Moniara Romero of Albuquerque, N.M. Nickoli Romero of Maxwell N.M., Janson Bruce Miller of Edina, Mo., Cooper and Harrison Jaenke both of Peachtree City, Ga., Logan and Adalyn Alton both of De Forest, WI and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Kathleen R. Solter, Son in law Herman Smith, four brothers, Joe, Raymond, Clifford and Roy Solter and two sisters, Lula Murphy and Ruth McCullough.

Funeral services were held October 31, 2015 at the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange with Rev. Roger Ricketts officiating.Pallbearers: Larry Parsons, Howard Conner, Mark Washburn, Bruce Roy Solter, Dennis Alton and Nickoli Romero. Music: Amazing Grace and Lords Prayer

Burial was in Memorial Cemetery in La Grange, Mo.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital or to Hospice of Northeast Missouri.
