Gerald Keith Brandt, 75, of La Grange, Mo., died August 5, 2019 at his home in La Grange, Mo.

He was born in La Grange on April 16, 1944 a son of W.G. (Pete) and Martha E. West Brandt.

Jerry graduated from La Grange High School in 1962 and attended IBM School in St. Louis (back when computers were the size of rooms). While working on the dock’s at Pete’s Boat House he met his wife Linda Kiefer. They married on Oct. 26, 1963 in Holly Springs, MS.

During his life he attended two years at Gem City Business School. He worked at the

La Grange Foundry; was an outboard motor mechanic in Quincy and in Florida. He operated his own heavy equipment; operated Pete’s Boat House and La Grange Satellite and Computers (formerly La Grange Satellite Systems and Mark Twain Computers). He taught himself how to build and service both.

He was elected Mayor of La Grange three times, completing two terms. He was a Charter Member of the La Grange Lions Club and was also in the Kiwanis Club for a time. He was involved with the La Grange P.T.A., where he was a past president, involved with the Save Our Schools effort in the 1980’s and was a past president of the Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife Linda Brandt of La Grange; two sons, Scott K. Brandt of

La Grange and J. Todd Brandt of St. Louis; daughter, Tami L. Brandt of La Grange; one granddaughter, Samantha M. (Brandt) Bradney of Palmyra; one great granddaughter, Brianne M. Bradney of Palmyra; a sister, Mickalyn (Brandt) Crawford of La Grange; brother in law, Richard Stephens of Kinderhook, IL; five cousins and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Shirley (Brandt) Stephens and Penny Brandt, his infant son Gerald T. Brandt and his first granddaughter Rebecca S. Brandt.

The family has requested no visitation or funeral.
