EDWARD LOWELL REYNOLDS

July 24, 2019

Edward Lowell Reynolds of rural Lewistown, Missouri, died July 16, 2019 at Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown. Lowell was born in Monroe City, Missouri, on October 3, 1938 to Benjamin Edward Reynolds and Gladys Ann (Gosney) Reynolds.

He graduated from Lewistown High School in 1956 and Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University) in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.

He worked as a high school mathematics teacher in Elsberry Missouri, then took a series of jobs as an electronics engineer at various locations in the country including Motorola in Quincy and Xerox in New York. He finished his career at McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing) in St. Louis, working about 30 years ending in 1999. He worked on the F-4, F-15, and F-18 fighter jets, as well as the AV-8 (Harrier). He retired to his family’s place in Lewis County.

Lowell enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, watching westerns on TV, and reading about aviation. He enjoyed hosting friends at his place in the country for hunting and fishing, and college students for outdoor laboratory experiences and research projects. He was a creative and industrious person, always building something new to benefit wildlife. He liked fishing most of all, and took friends out on his 5-acre lake whenever he could. He took advantage of the movements of his job to fish both coasts and many points in between.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service was held at Ball-Davis Funeral Home, Ewing, Mo., on July 30, 2019. Visitation was held prior to services.

Memorials may be made to the Missouri Conservation Federation in care of Ball-Davis Funeral Home, Ewing, MO.
