DORIS HIGGINS

Doris Joann Higgins, 85 of Keokuk, IA died July 6, 2019 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, IA.

She was born October 28, 1933 in LaGrange, MO the daughter of Franklin and Bernice Bronestine Fishback. On February 14, 1953 she was united in marriage to Jerl Bowman in Maywood, MO. To this union, three children were born. Jerl preceded her in death. Doris was later united in marriage to Harry Higgins on April 15, 1972 in Canton, MO. He survives.

Doris graduated from LaGrange High School with the Class of 1952.She had been employed by Sheller Globe in Keokuk. Throughout her life, Doris delighted in quilting, crocheting and needle point. She enjoyed spending time outdoors bird watching. She also enjoyed traveling to dog races with her husband and friends. 

Other survivors include one daughter, Jerlyn Lindsay, one grandson, Jeron (Elisha) Lindsay, two great-grandsons, Ryan and Blake Lindsay, one brother, Ron (Louise) Fishback, brother-in-law, Bob Meyer and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerl Bowman, her parents, two sons, James Bowman and Jerry Bowman, two sisters, Carolyn Sue Job and Betty Meyer and brother-in-law, Larry Job.

Funeral services were held July 11, 2019 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor David Turner officiating.

Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk.
