Carl Wayne Maples, 94, of La Grange, Mo., died September 27, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

He was born April 1, 1924 near Canton a son of Carl Edward and Julia Annie Rowe Maples. He married Elizabeth A. Wolfmeyer on November 30, 1944 in La Grange, Mo. She passed away March 20, 1976.

Wayne enjoyed coming to town to eat breakfast and visit with friends daily. He also enjoyed raising a variety of animals, livestock, farm life in general and going fishing. Wayne had worked for Electric Wheel in Quincy until his retirement. He was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in La Grange and was a Navy Veteran of WWII.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Ann (Ray) Hiland of Quincy and Deborah Kay Meyer of La Grange; grandchildren include, Bradley Bronestine, Kimberly (Alan) Morley, Kevin (Lezlie) Meyer, Lonnie (Laura) Meyer, Lori (Doug) Green, Stacey (Susie) Meyer and Bethany (Tom) Head; 18 great grandchildren, one step great grandchild; six great great grandchildren, three step great great grandchildren; one brother Richard (Wilma) Maples of Canton and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother Glen Maples; one sister Louise Feldkamp, sons in law Ronald F. Meyer and Lary Bronestine.

Funeral service were held October 1, 2018 at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange with Pastor Jacob Hercamp officiating. Pallbearers: Brad Bronestine, Alan Morley, Douglas Green, Kevin Meyer, Lonnie Meyer, Stacey Meyer and Tom Head. Music: Sissy’s Song and Go Rest High on that Mountain.

Visitation was held Sept.. 30 in the funeral home.

Burial with Military Honors was in Memorial Cemetery, La Grange.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in La Grange or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
