MICHAEL KNAPP, JR.

Michael Knapp, Jr., 86, of Eureka, died June 2, 2018 at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.

He was born January 15, 1932 in Goodfield, IL to Michael Knapp, Sr. and Lydia Knapp.  He married E. Luann Bittner on August 15, 1954 in Roanoke.  She survives.

Michael was a Korean War Army veteran.  He earned a Korean service Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars, Defense service metal and a combat medal.  He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant First Class.

Michael was a local grain and livestock farmer before moving his family to Ewing, MO.  He farmed in the Ewing/Taylor, Mo area from 1975 to 2012 when he retired.  He moved back to Eureka to enjoy his retirement.  In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking.  He was a member of the Goodfield, IL and Taylor, MO Apostolic Christian Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher at both.  Most of all, Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are his children: Jon (Pat) Knapp of Eureka, Susan (Curt) Gramm of Gridley, Trudie (Elwood) Yackley of Taylor, MO, Jamie (Casey) Knobloch of Gridley; sister, Mida Fehr of Hudson, Harold (Mary Jane) Knapp of Bloomfield, IA, sister-in-law Wilma Knapp of Eureka; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Elizabeth) Knapp, Brandon (Amy) Knapp, Blake Knapp, Sara Knapp, Nicole (Todd) Witzig, Lindsey (Joseph) Knochel, Reed (Bethany) Witzig, Wade Knobloch and Mara Knobloch; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers George and Frank Knapp and two sisters, Evelyn Walker, LaVina Schmeckpeper and one infant sister.

Funeral services were heldJune 6, 2018 at the Goodfield Apostolic Church.  Church ministers officiated

.  Burial was in Goodfield/Congerville Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
