NIMMIE HUMPHREY

Mrs. Nimmie Jean Humphrey, 94, of Lewistown, Mo., passed away peacefully in her sleep May 20, 2018, at Country Are Retirement Estates, Lewistown, Mo.

She was born March 12, 1924, Northeast of Ewing, Mo., a daughter of Maud (Glisan) and Harry Sam Henderson. She graduated from LaGrange High School. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Ewing, Mo. She married Gilbert Selves Humphrey June 15, 1941. He passed away August 3, 2006.

She was a clerk for Probate of Magistrate Court for 19 years in Lewis County. She went to work for Attorney Pat Wheeler for 35 years. She was a conscientious, dedicated, hard-working essential employee.

Nimmie and her husband Gilbert purchased the Humphrey Farm in 1946 and when Gilbert passed away, Nimmie continued to manage the farm. They were also co-owners and co-operators of Humphrey Produce, Humphrey’s Grocery, and Gas Station in Monticello.

She was a Volunteer Ombudsman at Country Are Retirement Estates, Lewistown, Mo. She enjoyed assisting Seniors. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star 316 and held various offices. She was appointed District Deputy in 1963 for one year. She was selected to be a representative to Maine in 1969 for three years.

Nimmie is survived by her son, retired Lt. Col. Gilbert Gene Humphrey and daughter-in-law, Vi Jennings Humphrey; granddaughter Robine Michelle (Todd) Whethem; two great grandchildren Dean and Henry Whetham; a step-grandson, William (Ashly) Jennings and three step-grandchildren, Marley, Miles and Duncan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter in law and mother of Robine, Virginia Dean Humphrey, sisters, Mildred Henderson, Dorothy Mae Henderson Mitchell, Vivian Gladys Henderson Hopkins, Stubenrouch and brother, Harry Nathaniel Henderson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing at 10 a.m. Rev. Tim Smith will officiate. Pallbearers: Jon Schmidt, Jim Schlager, Vancil Scifres, Bill Smith, Larry Rutledge, Kenny Penn. Honorary Pallbearers: Burrell Smith, Pat Wheeler, Mike Crane, Bill Hinkle and Jeff Primm. Music: Debbie Faulkner, vocalist; Linda Roberson, organist.

Burial will be in Dover Cemetery.
