WILLIAM STORK

William Stork, 92, died January 12, 2018, in Kansas City, Missouri.

William was born May 30, 1925 to Merle E. and Mary M. Stork in Canton. In 1951 he married Marjorie Wiedmeyer in Keokuk, Iowa. 

During WWII William served in the Navy as a Corpsman assigned to Naval Hospitals in New Orleans and Palm Beach. He also served with the 6th Marine Division in the Pacific and China. 

He graduated from Culver-Stockton College in 1948.

William was an active church member serving as Chairman of the Board, Deacon, and on various committee. He was a member of the Gideons International and served as a local Church Chairman, contacting pastors and speaking to congregations regarding Bible world-wide distribution.

William enjoyed learning about sailing on local lakes and joined the United States Power Squadron, where he took boating classes and participated in boating rendezvous on Lake Michigan. 

William was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jack and wife Donna, Robert and wife Jacqueline; sister Frances Shaw and husband Charles; nephews Philip Shaw, Daniel Stork and great-nephew James Stork; brother-in-law Larry Wiedmeyer; and sister-in-law Dolores Hays and husband Max.

He is survived by his wife; daughters Carol Mewmaw (Fred), Nancy Stork and Jean Silverman (Jay); grandson Jared Mewmaw; granddaughter Elizabeth Loving (Walter) and son,  Grayson; sister-in-law Marcia Wiedmeyer; nephews Robert Stork, Michael Hays, Steve Hays, Jeff Hays, and nieces Angela Sheaffer, Linda McGinn, Joan Caria, Suzane Stork, Betsy Sandoval, Kim Swanson, and Kelley Davis.

Graveside services will be held May 26 at 11:30 a.m. at Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton, Mo.
