Benny Gordon (Ben) Stith, 82 of LaBelle, Missouri and formerly of Rockaway Beach, Missouri died May 1, 2018 at the LaBelle Manor Care Center at LaBelle.
The son of Russell B. and Pearl Levengood Stith was born on May 17, 1935 at Lewistown, Missouri.,
He was united in marriage to Earlene Smith on January 20, 1962 at Quincy, Illinois. He later married Linda Winters McGregor on February 24, 1972 at Somerset, Pennsylvania.
Ben spent most of his adult life in sales, and retired from the construction business. He served in the U. S. Army from 1957 until 1960 stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. He was a Past Exulted Ruler of Lake Taneycomo Elks Lodge, Past District Director of the Southwest District of the Missouri State Elks Association. He was a charter member of the Men’s Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 5168 at Forsythe, Mo. and a charter member of the Am-Vets Post 78 of Rockaway Beach, Mo.
He is survived by three children, Troy (Sherry) Stith of Brookfield, Mo., Tami (Larry) Simpson of Destin, Fl. and Traci (Dwight) Henderson of Fredrick, Md.; five grandchildren, Zachary Stith, Jordan Seals, Danielle Ireland, Toni Simpson and Maegan Reed; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Jean Vahlkamp and Judy Bunte, both of Quincy, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, his wife Linda, two sisters, Dorice Doran and Kathryn Bergman and a brother, Russell D. Stith.
Graveside memorial services and inurnment were held May 4, 2018 at the Lewistown Cemetery in Lewistown, Missouri. Military Honors will be provided by Lewis County Memorial Post 578.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeast Missouri or to the Am-Vets Service Organization.
