KENNETH E. POWERS

Kenneth E. Powers, 75, of La Grange, Mo., died April 11, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

He was born May 22, 1942 near Canton, Mo., a son of Roscoe and Isabel Johnson Powers. He found the love of his life and married Sue Bond on April 30, 1960 in Wayland, Mo. She survives.

Kenny was a loving husband of 58 years and an amazing father, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked for the City of La Grange for 30 years as street superintendent and was very dedicated to his work and committed to the citizens of La Grange. He retired from the City of La Grange in 2003 and shortly thereafter began driving for Knapheide Manufacturing. He and his son were avid pool players and enjoyed many games and tournaments together. Kenny’s canine companion “Precious” meant the world to him.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Powers of La Grange, three children, Tami Smith of Quincy, Ill., Becki (Trenton) Seeley of Peoria, Arizona and Kent Powers of La Grange; six grandchildren, Shanna Snow of Quincy, Sgt. Brad (Sandra) Akers of Colorado Springs, Colo., Samantha Akers of Peoria, Ariz., Dillon Hodges of Newport News, VA, Kendall Powers of LaGrange and Skylar Seeley of Peoria, Ariz.; four great grandchildren, Austin, Camron, Lakyn and Halyiah and several nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Pearl.

Funeral services were held April 14, 2018 at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange with Rev. Barry Pfister officiating. Visitation was held April 13 in the Davis Funeral Home. Music: Go Rest High on that Mountain, Strolling Through Heaven and I Can Only Imagine. Pallbearers: Don Zahn, Dale Bond, Jimmy Bond, Dillon Hodges, Sgt. Brad Akers and Jamie Platt. Honorary Pallbearers: Bob Farr, Jimmie Vaughn, Rob Cheney, Bob Brockmiller, Kenny Winters and Trent Seeley

Burial was in Marks Cemetery in La Grange.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
