Carol S. (Bowles) Davis, 65 of Kalona, formerly of Wayland died July 29, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

She was born June 17, 1950 in Hannibal, Mo., a daughter of Grant E. and Mary I. (Bergman) Bowles. She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1968 and attained a degree in Accounting from Culver Stockton College in Canton, Mo. She married Lynn Davis in Quincy, Ill., in 1970, the couple later divorced. She worked at the John Deere dealership in Keokuk and did accounting jobs on the side, most recently working as an accountant for Newberry, Inc in Keokuk. Carol owned and operated a vending machine service for several years, and also worked for Seven Seas Laundry and Houston Brothers. She was active in a bible study in Kalona and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing games, crossword puzzles, sewing, crotcheting, latchwork, embroidery, painting and other craft projects. She had fond memories of many vacations with her family.

Survivors include a son Ryan G. Davis (and significant other Taryn Kristan) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, sisters: Jamie J. (Bob) Bowles of Lewistown, Mo., and Marcia A. (Max) Howren of Ozark, Ala., and several nieces and nephews, including Otis Houston, Cecilee (Adam) Radel, Jon Howren and Callie (Nick) Borders.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, nephew Chad Little, niece Monica Jones, sister in law Mary Davis and an aunt Leota Bowles.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona with family greeting friends 9 to 10 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m at the Durham Cemetery in Durham, Missouri. A memorial fund has been established for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
