Brenda Joyce Tate Abbey, 68, of La Grange, Mo., died July 24, 2015 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

Brenda was born in La Grange, Mo., on November 1, 1946. She was the oldest child of Mary Bee Tate Dade, stepfather Albert Williams and Charles Lewis.

Brenda was a lifelong member of Green Chapel Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir. She recently volunteered as a foster grandparent at the LaGrange Head Start and the LaGrange Youth Center.

Survivors include her husband Merlle Abbey, one daughter McKeshi Abbey Williams; two sons, Montega Abbey and Lorenza Abbey; sisters and brothers, Gwendolyn (Julia) Dade Brown, Sherry Dade Gay, Reva Dade Holder, Cheryl Dade Woodson, George Dade (Betty), Timothy Dade (Daneen), Anthony Williams, Shelisa Williams; three brothers, Brian Lewis, George Green and Greg Lewis; five sisters, Carmen Mallory, Pastor Lori Lewis, Jenelle Lewis, Tracy Lewis and Sherry Lewis; also 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and her BFF Roaddog Terry Weathers. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and two brothers,

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange with Rev. John H. Mims officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 11a.m. until time of services at the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange. Pallbearers are: Deandrea Abbey, Rodney Davis, Dequan Abbey, Randy Holder Sr., Thomas Woodson Jr. and Charles Dade III. Honorary Pallbearers: Josiah Dade, Lavion Wilson, Montai Dade and Claude Humphrey

Burial will be in Marks Cemetery in La Grange.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Davis Funeral Home to help defray funeral cost.
