HAROLD COOK

Harold Winfred Cook, 72, of Lewistown, Mo., died October 5, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family and friends.

He was welcomed into the world in Corning, AR on February 12, 1945, to JT and Wanda Cook and Clifford and Letha Murray. Harold attended school in Rockford, IL.

Harold was joined in marriage with the love of his life, Brenda Burkheart on June 15, 1975; they enjoyed 42 years of marriage. She resides at their family home in Lewistown, Mo.

Harold worked in many fields in his earlier years including farming, manufacturing and law enforcement before finding his calling in the Telecommunications construction field. He started his career as a Cable Plow operator before advancing to Superintendent, for L.O. Brayton & Co. General Contractors in Dyersburg, Tennessee for 15 years. Harold then went to work for C-Com Construction in Bethel, Mo., for 7 years as a Superintendent. The last 11 years of his working career were spent as a very successful and well respected superintendent for Sellenriek Construction in Lewistown, Mo., in which he retired from in 2009. He will be remembered by many as a dedicated and caring hard worker.

Harold’s passions in life included: hunting, fishing, playing cards, listening to and watching St. Louis Cardinal Baseball games and visiting with his many friends and family members. He especially loved spending time with his kids and all 14 of his grandchildren and was very proud of them all.

He grew up with the faith of the Lord and was baptized on June 29, 2008 and attended First Baptist Church and Freedom in Christ Worship Center in Lewistown, Mo.

He is survived by his step mom, Letha Murray of Corning, AR, wife Brenda Cook of the home, children Jason (Amanda) Cook of Shelbyville, MO, Johnny Cook of Leonard, MO, Cindy (Patrick) Nampel of Johnson Creek, WI, Mindy (Michael) Cunningham of Moberly, MO, Sandy Brickley of AR, Wendy Kirby of Shelbyville, MO. Grandchildren: Blake Griffin Bakersfield, CA, Tyler Kirby (Richele) San Diego, CA, Lindsey Parsons Columbia, MO, Skyler Kirby, Lilly Cook, Brayton Cook, Clay Cook, Allison Dunwoody, Ceairra Kirby, Jacie Cook, Jaxon Cook, Jase Cunningham, PaigeLee Nampel & baby Grant Cunningham, and one Great Granddaughter Leighanna Kirby. Sisters: Linda Cook, MN, Mary Broughton, AR, Charlotte Murray, Lucia Burkheart and Rhonda Turner all of AR. Aunts: Mary Knowlton and Ella Gene Carr, and many cousins, nieces and nephews all who he loved very much!

He was preceded in death by his parents JT and Wanda Cook and Clifford Murray Sr. and brothers, Gary Cook, Clifford Murray Jr. and Travis Murray.

Graveside funeral services and burial were held October 10, 2017 at the Redenbough Cemetery in Corning, AR with Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Visitation was held Oct. 8 at Arnold Funeral Home in Lewistown, Mo. Pallbearers: Garry Blevins, Jonathan Parsons, Matt Glover, Lee Sharpe, Michael Cunningham and Patrick Nampel.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Heartland Resources, Ewing, MO or Hospice of Northeast Missouri, Kirksville, Mo.
