Alyce Mae (Waganer) Lake, 94, a long time resident of Lewistown, Mo., died September 13, 2017. For the past five years Alyce had lived at the Ashland Villa Assisted Living facility in Ashland, Mo.

Alyce was born January 9, 1923 in LaGrange, Mo; the daughter of Roy Frederick and Ramona Mae (Mc Intyre) Waganer. She married Delmar Leslie Lake of LaGrange, Mo., on August 24, 1944 in Hannibal, Mo. Delmar preceded her in death on May 23, 1973.

Alyce attended LaGrange Pleasant Hill School graduating in 1941. She graduated from Gem City Business College of Quincy, Ill., and worked as a Bookkeeper at Canton State Bank, Canton, Mo., until after her marriage.

Alyce was a member of the Lewistown Christian Church. She taught Sunday School to Pre Schoolers for 14 years in both LaGrange and Lewistown and was a Bible School teacher for many years. She also was a 4-H leader and School Room Mother for several years. Alyce served as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Lewis County Historical Society for 12 years and was Co-Chairman, along with her husband, of the Lewis County Historical Society’s Exhibit for 17 years. Alyce was a Charter Member and Life Long member of that organization.

Alyce greatly enjoyed being a wife, mother and homemaker. She loved her home, cooking, canning, sewing, crafts and flowers. She also enjoyed antiquing and refinishing furniture with her husband.

Survivors include her four sons; Lawrence Alan and his wife Karen of Sedalia, Mo; Stephen Kent and his wife Diana of Winfield, Mo; Roderick Lynn and his wife Melanie of Columbia, Mo; and Jeffery Brian and his wife Helen of Fredericktown, Mo; five grandchildren, David Alan, Laura Jo Brandt, Kimberly Lynn, Connor Logan and Nathaniel Ryan; five great grandchildren, Michael Alan, Jonathan Alan, Whitney Mae Farrington, Katelyn Jo Farrington and Noah Brandt.

Alyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, a brother Randall and a grandson Michael Stephen.

Graveside services and burial were held September 16, 2017 in Memorial Cemetery at La Grange, Mo., with Rev. Kary Myers officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.davis-fh.com.
