Ruth Wyvonne Henson, 82, of Canton, Missouri, died September 22, 2016 at Keokuk Area Hospital. She was born February 17, 1934, in Hancock County, Ill., the daughter of Reuben Lloyd and Ruth Madeline (Edgecomb) Lovell. On July 18, 1953, she was united in marriage to Lawrence A. (Pete) Henson, in Colusa, Ill. He survives. Ruth graduated from Carthage High School in 1952. She worked at Swift & Co., and Sheller Globe, both in Keokuk, Iowa. When her children were born she became a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. Ruth enjoyed raising a big garden and caring for her family. She took pleasure in sewing, quilting and crocheting, as well as the occasional game of cards. Ruth also enjoyed camping, especially when her family went together. Ruth was a member of the Adrian Ladies Auxiliary. Ruth’s daughters as well as her grandchildren often called her for advice and always for her delicious recipes. Ruth is survived by her husband of 63 years, Pete; daughters, Barb Ward, of Carthage, Ill.; and Sharon (Kent) Spory, of Wayland, Mo.; five grandchildren, David (Barbara) Hoenig, of Revere, Mo.; Jennifer (Jason) Wenke, of Ft. Madison, Ia.; Stacy (Chad) Hoffman, of Camp Point, Ill.; Eric (Sarah) Lenz, of Carthage, Ill.; and Karyn Spory, of Wayland, Mo.; three step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; three step great-great-grandchildren; one brother, James “Butch” (Karen) Lovell; special friends, Pat Bosman, David and Danielle Schlosser; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Wanda (Babe) Boyer, Mary Alexander; son-in-law, Dave Ward; brother-in-law, Richard Boyer; niece Terry Derr; and nephew Jim Rockhold. Funeral services were held September 28, 2016, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage Burial was in Thornber Cemetery near Powellton. A memorial fund has been established.
